Candles, explained — not sold

About this table

Contemporary Candles is an independent write-up site about how candles actually work: what the different waxes are, what a wick is really doing, why a melt pool behaves the way it does, and why a candle that smells wonderful unlit can be disappointing lit.

It is not a shop. There are no prices here, no rankings, no “best candle” lists and nothing to add to a basket. Candles are sold on mood and bought on hope; this site describes the testable craft underneath — plainly, and with a healthy suspicion of label language.

Where something cannot be said for sure, we say so. Where something is genuinely unsafe, we say that plainly and stop. The rest is yours to try at your own table: a trimmed wick, a patient first burn, and a closer look at the wax.

Start anywhere — the sections above — or with the flagship guide, How to Read a Melt Pool.
